Anti-Ragging Policy

Goodwill Girls' High School & Composite Pre-University College maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards ragging in any form. Our institution is committed to providing every student a safe, supportive, and dignified environment, and ragging is completely prohibited on the campus, in college transport, in the hostel, and anywhere within or outside the institution.

This policy is framed in accordance with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 and the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India.

What Constitutes Ragging

Ragging includes any conduct, whether by words spoken or written or by an act, which has the effect of teasing, treating, or handling a student with rudeness; or which causes, or is likely to cause, annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm, or fear or apprehension in a student; or asking a student to do any act or perform something which the student would not, in the ordinary course, do and which causes shame or embarrassment; and any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure imposed on a student.

Prohibition & Consequences

No student shall take part in, abet, or propagate ragging in any form. Any student found guilty of ragging is liable to disciplinary action, which may include — depending on the nature and gravity of the offence — suspension or debarring from classes and examinations, withholding of results, expulsion from the institution and the hostel, a fine, and, where warranted, the lodging of a First Information Report (FIR) with the police. Action may be taken against those who fail to report an incident of ragging as well.

Anti-Ragging Committee & Squad

The institution has constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee and an Anti-Ragging Squad, headed by the Principal, to prevent ragging, to keep a vigilant watch, and to deal promptly and firmly with any complaint. The Committee also oversees the anti-ragging undertakings submitted by students and parents at the time of admission. The names and contact details of the current Committee and Squad members are available at the school office and are displayed on the campus notice board.

How to Report Ragging

Any student who experiences or witnesses ragging should report it immediately. Complaints are treated confidentially and acted upon without delay.

Undertaking

In keeping with the UGC Regulations, every student and their parent or guardian is required to submit an anti-ragging undertaking at the time of admission, affirming that they have read and understood this policy and the penal consequences of ragging. Freshers are encouraged to report any incident without fear, in the confidence that the institution stands firmly on their side.
